Vintage 1930/40's Meccano Biplane Model Aeroplane Constructor Series Number Two

An amazing looking large vintage Meccano metal biplane, in silver and red with loads of character and patina!

This is from a constructer series number 2 set and features all the correct parts.
Wing struts and angle brackets have been added as these were missing. They are all period correct (including colour) for this model and would have been part of the original set. One roundel is missing on one side of the rear fuselage.

One of the upper wings was split in half and a lower wing has a small split. Period correct vintage Meccano strips have added to the underside of each week to support and strengthen them. Everything is now very strong and solid so the plane can be displayed on the wheels, or hung in the air via the wings.

Original clockwork type 2 motor is fitted, but this hasn't been tested and appears to be seized up.
Original vintage Meccano nuts and bolts used throughout. Original white rubber tires are in place, but these have perished and hardened due to age.

The model does show a lot of signs of previous corrosion, but after gentle cleaning, a lot of the original paint is now visible and makes this item perfect for display!
