About the artist

William J Allingham - Late 19th century engraver.

Francis P Barraud (1824 - 1900)
Born in London, Francis worked mostly in watercolour and in stained glass and was a partner of Lavers & Barraud, stained glass artists.  Francis visited New Zealand on the 'Northfleet' in 1842 and some of his watercolours were exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts 1889-1897. He produced a series of views of colleges, and another of cathedrals and was a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1885-1890  exhibiting in 1885 three watercolours 'Norwich Cathedral', 'Amiens Cathedral' and 'Church of St Pierre Louvain, Belgium' and he also exhibited at the Royal Academy.
