This BMW M5 E39 and I am lucky enough to own of these cars as my daily car. It is Finished in Carbon Black, metallic paintwork with contrasting Caramel ‘Heritage’ leather interior, it is complemented with walnut wood gear stick and brushed stainless steel look console & door cappings.

The car has covered about 208,000 miles, but drives amazingly for its age. These M5’s, really are a quality car. It has some service history and receipts. And it has recently benefits from a fresh service and brand new x-drilled front discs and pads!

I have had this car about 4 years and in that time covered nearly 15k. Only ever broke down once and that was because of a puncture! But it is due its MOT again in about a month and I know it will probably need a few bits to sort it out. Things that I know need doing are: inner steering arm, it wobbles a bit u set braking through the steering wheel. And the exhaust to Downpipe joint on the drivers side, sounds like it is blowing slightly, so probably a good idea to get that done too.

General overview of the good and bad:

The car has some wear and tear, mainly to the drivers seat, but still overall nice condition for its age. One of the rear door blinds needs the plastic handle fitted. It is supplied but I haven’t had time to fit it. Passenger folding M5 mirror doesn’t work, probably a motor as I changed this on the driver side and it fixed it! Remote central locking needed a battery a few months ago, now the other day, stopped working again, may need programming again, but key works fine in the door lock. Car has had new spark plugs, but I noticed that it still has all the original Bosch coil packs. From time to time there is a slight missfire (all ok at the mo), I suspect that one or two of the could be the problem. It hasn’t been a big issue, as I haven’t done this yet. The gearbox is a bit stiff to get in gear for the first few mins of driving, when the oil is warmed up, it drives fine. But this is a common thing with these cars. Car has had paint work over the years, looks ok and shines up nice. Has just had brand new bumper and inserts fitted and painted. Front end is mint now, no cracks or stone chips. It has the updated stereo and sub box, and for a while when I first had the car, the stereo etc was all working fine. Now the radio screen powers up and mpg etc is there, but stereo not making any noise. So could be the amp, or wiring, etc. But all bits are with it. It has had a rear box delete! Sounds like a V8!

The M5 E39 series was manufactured from 1998, through to 2003. Under the bonnet is the V8 BMW M engine of 4998cc that develops 394bhp, the power being delivered through a 6 speed manual Getrag gearbox to the rear wheels.

the last three years of production are more desirable than the first model year of 2000, which was the best-seller. The mid-cycle refresh to the 5 Series for 2001 added angel-eye headlights, updated tail lights, a thicker three-spoke M steering wheel, a grey instrument cluster, and an improved navigation and media system. It also became the last of the manual shift M5 models to be produced.

Two levels of equipment were available - Sportive and Exclusive. This example is pretty much fully loaded with options!!  It also has the very desirable option of the 'Heritage’ trim level, making the interior very rare

This later example of the E39 M5 is presented in nice condition throughout, & has been with me for over two years. The cars high specification, makes this M5 E39 is a rare and sort after example indeed.

All offer please make them OVER £10000. Otherwise you will be ignored! And if the car doesn’t sell, I’m happy to get the car MOT’d and sell for £14,000. Or I’ll keep it and use is again this year. This is the cheapest M5 e39 out there by miles! I think it is very fairly priced, it just needs some sorting and tidying to make a really nice car.

Please message any questions.
