"Smoke in the Canyon: My Steam Days in
Dunsmuir” is Dick Murdock’s collection of tales about his times as a Southern
Pacific engineer working out of the Dunsmuir terminal. An interesting set of stories about a large
railroad with some of the largest engines known. There are lots of b/w photos with several
cab-forwards represented here.
This 142-page, quarto-size, landscape-formatted
hardcover book was published in 1987 by May-Murdock Publications as their
stated second printing of a 1986 limited edition. This copy is in very
good condition with no damage - no jammed corners, no text markings, no
dog-eared pages. The dust jacket is in very good
condition with no chips, tears or creases. The rear
lower bottom shows very minor wear. The
photos are of this very book. This book will be packed and shipped in our
bulletproof manner. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Cumbres and
