C'est le premier appareil photo utilisant l'énergie solaire pour l'ensemble des besoins nécessitant de l'électricité. Le soleil fournit toute la puissance requise par le système AF, le déclenchement électromagnétique programmé, l’alimentation du flash, et le transport du film (ainsi que le rembobinage).

Le capot avant est recouvert de cellules solaires à hautes performances. Le remplacement dans le temps de la batterie secondaire (lithium ion) n'est pas nécessaire.

L’écran à cristaux liquides sur la gauche de l’appareil sert à afficher l’état des accus (pour cela il faut appuyer sur un bouton rouge situé à droite de l’appareil).

Le temps de recharge est de 6 heures. La batterie, complètement rechargée, assure l'autonomie suffisante pour 5 films. Lors de la phase de recharge, le volet est écarté du boîtier d'une quinzaine de degrés.

Cet appareil fabriqué au Japon porte d’autres noms en fonction de sa zone de commercialisation « Sure shot delsol » au USA et « Autoboy SE » au Japon. Il est extrapolé du Prima Mini.

RARE Canon Prima Sol Silver 35mm Compact White Solar WORKS + Case

As you can see from the photos, and unlike those you'll find elsewhere, this model works and the battery is 100% charged.

Presented closed, it's hard to see that this is a camera. If it weren't for the "Canon" name on the front, it could be mistaken for a transistor...

It's the first camera to use solar power for all its electrical needs. The sun provides all the power required by the AF system, programmed electromagnetic triggering, flash power and film transport (as well as rewinding).

The front cover is covered with high-performance solar cells. The secondary battery (lithium ion) does not need to be replaced over time.

The LCD screen on the left of the unit is used to display the battery status (to do this, press the red button on the right of the unit).

Recharge time is 6 hours. When fully charged, the battery provides sufficient autonomy for 5 films. During the recharging phase, the shutter is moved away from the housing by about fifteen degrees.

This Japanese-built device goes by other names, depending on where it is sold: "Sure shot delsol" in the USA and "Autoboy SE" in Japan. It is extrapolated from the Prima Mini.

A March 1995 model from Canon's very successful Sure Shot range, the Sure Shot Del Sol - known as the Prima Sol in continental Europe and Autoboy SE in Japan - was the world's first camera using solar energy for all its power requirements.[1] Its front is covered with a solar panel that recharges an internal lithium ion battery. Other than the ground-breaking technology, the functionality and specifications of the Del Sol are similar to those of the Sure Shot M, a compact camera with a wide-angle prime lens.
