About the artist:
Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent who was one of the most influential American artists of the 20th century and focused on “suggestive dichotomies”, including integration versus segregation and inner versus outer experience.
Known as a political, poetical graffiti artist, he is best known for his primitive style of fusing words and symbols in the 1980s
Basquiat died of a heroin overdose in 1988, aged 27
