VINTAGE PHILIPS MODEL BZ126A VALVE TUBE RADIO IN BROWN BAKELITE CASE
On offer
is a fully restored early 1950s PHILIPS MODEL BZ126A Bakelite tube / valve
radio.
The case
is in a very good condition without any cracks, repairs or major scratches.
The
casing displays that pretty brown, mottled Bakelite shine; it is still a very
attractive unit.
During
the day I managed to tune to some 16 local stations using a 2.5 m wire as
antenna. For buyers' safety I have already run this radio for over three weeks
with no problems whatsoever.
The radio
plays very clean and loud.
In
addition I installed a three core power cord with a contemporary bakelite plug
so no earthing is needed.
Finally,
this radio tunes to the broadcast ~ 500-1,600 kHz, I guess, with a longer
antenna wire one could do much better than that.
When considering vintage tube radios the potential buyer must
realize that these items are very delicate electromechanical devices often
being 60 or 80 years old; so no guaranty of any kind can be offered, as such, for argument
sake, I sell this radio as it is now.
