YAMAHA FG-1500 No.7

Description

The FG-1500 was a high-end model released in June 1971 that was handcrafted using Yamaha's best materials and technology at the time. This instrument is a very valuable early model. No. 7 is handwritten inside the body, but there is no label on the leather, so a label may not have been available at the first lot stage. The head shape is also different from later models, with a tuning fork logo mark on the M-shaped head of Jacaranda's head plate. Although production ended in November 1975, it remains highly popular to this day due to its overwhelming sound.
The body has a 3-piece back construction with Ezo pine on the top, wild heathered Jacaranda on the sides and back, and curly maple in the center. Ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge.
The pegs have been replaced with Goto sealed back and butterbean knob types, so you can tune smoothly.
The top of the body has an ultra-thin lacquer finish, and due to aging, you can see the fine weather check of the lacquer when you hold it up to the light. There are repair marks for hairline cracks along the seams of the boards at the rear of the bridge, but they have been properly repaired by patching them from the inside, so there is no need to worry about them in the future. There are also some scratches the size of a pen tip that can be seen by holding it up to the light, but there are almost no scratches from playing, and I believe that this instrument has been treated with great care.
The Jacarandas on the sides and back are oversprayed and finished with a glossy gloss finish. Since it has been many years since construction, there is some lacquer checking on the paint surface, but there are no cracks or noticeable scratches.
There are some minor scratches on the back of the neck, but they are minor. You can also check the weather check depending on the angle from which you look at the neck back. There are no dents or wear on the fingerboard surface, and the fret peaks have sufficient height and no unevenness.
The neck has been reset and repaired, has been carefully adjusted, and has an easy-to-play action. The string height is 2.6 for the 6th string and 1.8 for the 1st string above the 12th fret. There is plenty of room for saddle height. The actual nut width is 43.5, and the neck adjustment rod is stiff, but there is still enough tightening room to cause it to warp.
Although the instrument is over 50 years old, it is in practical condition and can be used with confidence in the future.
This is a guitar that has a lot of dynamics and volume. There is a slightly loud nuance, but there is sound pressure. I think the appeal is not the delicate and beautiful sound, but the powerful and rich sound. It has a rounded resonance after many years, and it has a powerful sound that makes it comfortable to play.
Yamaha's original fork-sized body (width 380, approximately 15 inches) is smaller and easier to hold than the jumbo size, and is the same size as the Martin 000. An original hard case from this era is also included.
It has a premium value as a Japanese vintage, but it is also in a condition that allows it to be used with confidence, making it attractive as a player's guitar with a Jacaranda body. Recommended for those looking for it.
