SILVERSMITH: DOCKER & BURN.

This is a solid sterling silver lidded mustard pot made by Docker & Burn Ltd. at the Sterling Works, Barr Street, Birmingham and hallmarked 1924. With a high thumb lift on the hinged circular slightly domed lid the pot has a stepped foot reflected in the lid. The mustard comes with a cylindrical cobalt blue glass liner which is a perfect snug fit and is likely to be the original. Well hallmarked to the body and in overall excellent condition including the liner.

Height to top of pot - approx. 3.8 cm. (1.5 inch.).

Height to top of thumb lift - 4.8 cm. (1.9 inch.).

Diameter of top rim - 4.0 cm. (1.6 inch.).

Diameter of foot rim - 4.3 cm. (1.7 inch.).

Mustard Pot - 28.9 grams.

Mustard Pot + Liner - 60.0 grams.

Marks: The body of the pot is hallmarked close to the handle with the Lion Passant, Birmingham Anchor and the Date Letter 'z' for the Year 1924. Alongside within a rectangle is the silversmith's mark 'D & B' for Docker & Burns Ltd. The underside of the lid is also hallmarked with the Lion Passant and the Date Letter 'z'. The underside of the mustard pot is stamped 'E' over '88'.

Condition: Excellent. No damage, repairs or restoration. The glass liner is also free of damage having neither chips nor cracks or repairs.
