In 2017, the South African Mint celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand series. That celebration included the release of the first ever 1/10 oz Gold Krugerrand. Although it was struck as a proof, the small size dramatically expanded the buyer pool . The new small proof has become part of the annual series and continues to make it possible for a much larger number of people to participate in the rich tradition of the Gold Krugerrand.
