About MARIMEKKO
Marimekko is a Finnish design house based in Helsinki renowned for its original
prints and colors. Marimekko has made important contributions to fashion,
especially in the 1960s. It is particularly noted for brightly colored printed
fabrics and simple styles, used both in women's garments and in home
furnishings. Marimekko's bold fabrics and bright, simple design strongly
influenced late 20th-century taste. Many of the early Marimekko designs,
including Maija Isola's Unikko, remain in production today. They were made
famous in the United States by Jacqueline Kennedy, who bought eight Marimekko
dresses which she wore throughout the 1960 United States presidential campaign.
Today Marimekko is a leading textile company, producing fabrics, clothing and
home furnishings. They have stores all over the world - from United States and
Europe to Japan and Australia.
