Offered for your consideration is an exceptional pair of vintage Tonegen 4½ inch midrange drivers, manufactured in Japan, c.1976. As you may know, Tonegen is one of the world’s largest raw driver suppliers and was used by Infinity and many other top speaker brands, domestic and foreign, for decades.

Please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if these superb Tonegen midrange drivers are correct for your needs.

This pair of Tonegen midranges is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy paper cones are structurally flawless and so are the voice coil dustcaps. Plus, the suspension is cone edge-integral and permanent, instead of the fragile foam surrounds typically used back then. Also, the galvanized steel are in great shape with no dings and only a hint of oxidation. And, the “double-type” +/- input terminals measure the standard .205”, are marked for polarity, and have never been soldered on the spades. They’re very nicely preserved drivers overall.

Most importantly, they’ve been fully tested and sound terrific—nice clear output with fast, detailed midrange that extends well into treble. Plus, I tested their DC resistance at a closely-matched 5.0 and 5.1Ω, respectively, consistent with a nominal 6-8 ohm driver rating. And, the basket flanges measures 4 9/16” across (5⅛” at corners), they stand around 1¾” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 3¼” adjacent / 4¾” diagonal, c-t-c.

So, as pictured and described, this outstanding pair of Tonegen 4½” midrange drivers is offered at a competitive price.
