Iron Plumb Bob 7 oz Dunlap Hexagon Timber Framing Hexagon Body Craftsman Vtg

Offered is a vintage Dunlap hexagon body iron plumb bob, as pictured.

Tool has a removable screw in top cap and is the slim hex body style that became popular with carpenters in the early 1920's, replacing the old style turnips.
It measures about 3-1/2" long x 3/4" across the flats of the hexagon body and weighs about 7 ounces.
The bob is believed to be circa pre 1932, as it is plainly marked "DUNLAP – MADE IN USA" (The early Sears Roebuck tool marking that preceded the "Craftsman" marking that entered in the 1930's).

The tool shows use but survives in very decent condition; no rust or personal markings.
Item can from the box of a master timber framer / barn straightener in Central New York (retired in the late 1950's).

This style of bob is not rare, but they are on the scarce side in this nice condition and with the early "Dunlap" marking. Still quite useable, this tool displays well and could make a nice addition to a period exhibit.

For the people that re-purpose, the tool could make a different and really nice paperweight. The flat sides will allow it to stay put and a rich, true antique patina that can only be acquired with age.

Suitable for use or display and worthy of your consideration, I am confident the buyer will not be disappointed with the purchase.

Item is warranted to be as described and sells with no reserve.
