Up for your consideration is a Hohner POST-WWII No. 265 Double Bass.  This harmonica belonged to the late Bud Boblink and is directly from his estate.

Bud played the harmonica for over 70 years and worked with the "Harmonicats" and "Harmonica Rascals" and was awarded the Bernie Bray Award for playing excellence in 2004 by the Society for Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica (SPAH)

I have performed the following work on it:

1.  I treated all reedplates with "Naval Jelly" to remove dirt and oxidation and then used a brass wire brush to scrub the plates to clean and disinfect them.  Following that I cleaned the plates with "Dawn" detergent to neutralize the "Naval Jellyl".

2.  There were several cracks in the wooden combs and I filled them with Titebond-II wood glue.  I then sprayed the combs with 85% isopropol alcohol.  (See photos)

3.  After assembling the reedplates and combs I true the front edges before mounting the mouthpieces to improve air-tightness.

4.  I adjusted the gap, profile and centering of each reed to ensure reliable playing.

5.  I polished the nickel-plated covers and hinges and completed the assembly.

This auction includes the Hohner wood case pictured.

Please review the photos (be sure to zoom in on them) and bid with enthusiasm!  I always include photos with the covers and reedplates removed so that you can look “under the hood” to see what you’re really getting.
