Gilbert and Ellice Island stamps postmarked Vaitupu Tuvalu 10 Fe 76.  On 1 October 1975 the Gilbert and Ellice colony ceased to exist and on 1 Jan 1976 two separate British colonies Kiribati and Tuvalu were formed.
