The ebony material used for the fingerboard and bridge is black, and while many 28 grade models have pale or mottled parts, this is a very impressive piece.

Eric Clapton's signature model has been universally popular since its release in 1996.
Among the many Martin signature models, there is a reason other than being a signature that it continues to sell so well and become a regular model.
There is a similar model called 000-28Standard, but the sound and playability are similar, but we will introduce three main differences.
neck shape
Standard is the most common Martin guitar neck shape called Modified Low Oval.
On the other hand, the EC has a vintage-like V-shaped neck shape called ModifiedV.
String width at the bridge
This is a part that is rarely talked about, but it refers to the width from the 1st string to the 6th string at the bridge.
Standard is 54.8mm, EC is 57.2mm, and EC has wider strings at the bridge.
Both have the same width at the nut, so the neck of the EC gets wider as you move toward the higher frets.
This difference naturally affects the sound, but even more so it greatly affects the ease of playing with the right hand.
The wide spacing between the strings makes it very comfortable for the right hand when fingerpicking, which is why we recommend it to those who often play fingerstyle.

Compared to the Standard, the EC uses a grade of spruce that is one step higher.
