THIS WILL NOT FIT THE OLD STYLE RED COVER ENGINES (some newer engines have a red cover but I'm referring to the old style). This is the newer version, it is shorter and a little wider than the previous style, Please look at pictures and measurements below closely before ordering.

New take off recoil starter from a 23hp Briggs & Stratton vanguard engine. Works as it should, should fit 16-23 hp Briggs horizontal and vertical shaft engine's. This is the new style recoil starter, I don't believe it will fit any older model vanguard engines such as the vertical shaft series for self propelled mowers. Please verify engine model and part compatibility from pictures before ordering. Mounting hole spacing is 8-9/16" measured directly across from hole to hole, Overall height is 1-7/8" measuring from the base of the mounting tabs.
