BARBIE PINK AND WHITE WOOL KNIT CARDIGAN SWEATER…..Mint!

BEAUTIFUL CONDITION, SO HARD TO FIND WITHOUT HOLES!

-  This is the early version of Barbie’s cardigan sweater.  It was available only in 1962 and 1963.   It is hand knit with wool yarn, and the body of the sweater is one entire piece, with a knit-in waist band. 

-  Unlike the later version, which is constructed of cotton fabric and banded on the bottom with a  sewn-on waist of the same fabric.

-  Both versions have a fuzzy angora collar, which usually has yellowed. This one is very exceptionally clean and white.

The early wool version was quickly discontinued, as it was prone to getting holes, and is now hard to find without damage. This cardigan is in fantastic condition. Even the collar, which has aged very little.

NOTE: the doll is modeling and not included in this auction, and the other short sleeve sweater is also available in another listing.

— Several friends and I have pooled our childhood vintage Barbie items, and sorted them into complete, or almost complete, outfits.  (Leftover items will be listed on individual auctions) 

items range from the early 1960s through the 1970s.

— I have tried to note any flaws, but I am not an expert, and with so many items, a problem might be missed.
