The ultimate vintage replica Murphy Lab series, supervised by Tom Murphy, has finally arrived in Japan.
We use a special lacquer blended by Mr. Murphy that was developed specifically for this series.
The ultra-thin lacquer not only has a vintage-like feel, but also physically reproduces the deterioration caused by aging, realistically reproducing the sound of the wood as if it had been used for many years.
TriniLopez May 13, 1937 - August 11, 2020 is known as one of the artists who gained popularity in the United States in the 1960s.
Gibson introduced a model bearing his name in 1964. Two models: TriniLopezStandard, which is based on the ES-335, and TriniLopezDeluxe, which is based on the same double cutaway full acoustic as the Bernie Kessel model. Both have impactful designs unique to artist models.
The one that arrived this time is a model that faithfully reproduces the 1964 TriniLopez Standard. As mentioned above, although it is a model based on the ES-335, its impact is strong.
First of all, the head. It has a fender-like design with six pegs on one side. This design is the same as the Gibson Firebird. However, the Firebird was originally a reverse string and the peg was placed on the 1st string side. There is also a description that the prototype TriniLopez Standard had a reverse head, which is very interesting.
The rosewood fingerboard is decorated with diamond inlays. This is also a rare design for Gibson. A similar design was also used on the Flying V that Gibson gave to Jimi Hendrix in 1970. Either way, it's a very unique design.
The sound hole, which gives off a strong impact, has a diamond-shaped design, just like the position mark. I strongly feel the identity of this model by choosing a straight diamond shape instead of the beautiful curved ES-335. In recent years, the same diamond holes have been adopted on models by Dave Grohl and Shinichi Ikugata, and the design has become recognized as cool across eras and countries.
TriniLopez Standard is based on ES-335 but gives a completely different impression. It's a guitar that still retains its newness even though it's been over half a century since 1964!
