**SALE PENDING**

1982 Yamaha XJ650RJC Seca, 1 of 800

1982 Yamaha XJ650RJC Seca (YICS model) for sale, currently plated and insured but not running (more details on this below), 58,033 kilometres. $1200 or reasonable offer. The price reflects the state of the bike and that it is currently plated/insured.

The bike is currently in Lakeshore, Ontario, near Windsor. There were only 800 of these bikes produced and they were exclusively for the Canadian market.

The guy who restored the bike replaced the 4-2 headers for a 4-1 header.

Here’s the specs:

Years produced:
1982
Claimed power: 48hp @ 9,000rpm
Top speed: 127mph

Engine type: 653cc double-overhead cam, air-cooled inline four
Transmission: Five-speed
Weight (wet): 502lb (228kg)
MPG: 47.5 (period test)

Tank capacity: 19.5L/5.1 US gal (longest I’ve gone on 1 tank was just over 300km)

Ok here’s the deal - This bike is currently “on road” (plated/insured) but it hasn’t been started since August 2019 due to me working outside of the country, pandemic and whatnot. It’s been stored indoors since then in my parents’ garage, and was properly winterized for storage before I left in August 2019.

The reason why I listed it as ‘not running’ is because the ignition push button flew out (old plastic) a few months after I stored it back in 2019. To get it started, the button needs to be replaced (easy/cheap replacement if you know what you’re doing), it needs a new battery and the tank needs to be emptied and filled with fresh gas.

I’m leaving this posting up at this price for 7 days. If no one takes it, I’ll be having those 3 issues addressed and reposting for a higher price.

To the best of my memory, here all the great and not so great things about this bike, including what will be needed to make this a daily rider again. If you do your own wrenching and know enough about these only UJM air cooled 4 cylinders, the work needed (to the best of my knowledge) is reasonable. There’s also a great community for these bikes online at XJBikes (dot) com.

The good:

The not great:

I really didn’t want to sell this bike - had plans of doing a complete restoration, mechanically and body, back in 2022 but work and life has had other plans for me. I love this bike and road the shit out of it. For the 1st two seasons I had it, I lived in Montreal but worked in Toronto so I rode it between the two cities almost every week, and also down to my parents’ place near Windsor and out to Barrie/Collingwood.

Ideally whoever buys this understands how rare this bike is, will give it the love it needs and restores it to its glory. Please don’t by this to chop it up into a “cafe racer”. This is not a good bike for that, there are plenty of GS’s and CB’s that are far better suited to this.

Again, this is only 1 of 800 of these bikes that were ever produced. Far fewer still exist.

Let me know if you’re interested, we can set up a call and I can provide any info that’s missing here, and we can arrange a viewing time.
