I have here for sale a book for sale entitled ELLIOT'S MEDICAL POCKET-BOOK CONTAINING A SHORT BUT PLAIN ACCOUNT OF THE SYMPTOMS, CAUSES AND METHODS OF CURE, OF THE DISEASES INCIDENTS TO THE HUMAN BODY, INCLUDING SUCH AS REQUIRE SURGICAL TREATMENT. Published in 1801 by GILBERT & HODGES, Dublin. Set out alphabetically.  Bound with plain pages between the text pages for personal notes, with several of these having been written on in neat handwriting. asthma, dysentry, laxatives, emetics -I think, difficult to read the handwriting!

John Elliot MD (1747 – 22 July 1787) was a physician and scientist in eighteenth-century London who was the first person to conjecture that different parts of the retina respond to particular colours of light. However, he was obsessed with Mary Boydell, niece[1] of the publisher John Boydell, and in 1787 was arrested for attempting to murder her. Although acquitted of attempted murder, he starved himself to death while awaiting trial for assault in Newgate Gaol.

Bound in full leather boards. The board edges and spine are a little worn, but the boards remain firm. Ffep missing.   Name on the inside of the front board and the title page. Age soiling on the page margins. This book is in good condition, the pages remain tightly bound with no loose or missing pages. 198pp; 9cm x 13cm.

Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped. 

To keep the cost of the postage down to the most economical level per book, you may consider buying more than 1 item from my eBay account. You can then request a combined postage cost and I will combine the items into the fewest parcels as possible - saving you money :)
