Rare 1862 Victoria
UNIVERSAL EXHIBITION OF LONDON silver coloured 50mm medal - Collector's circulated grade
This rare large
50mm diameter and heavy 45.28g silver coloured medal (white metal?) with a
pleasing dark gun metal grey uncleaned antique patina, was engraved in 1862 by
noted French artist Jean-François-Antoine Bovy (French, 1795–1877). It
commemorates the International Exhibition held in South Kensington, London.
Obverse: Wreathed large portrait of Queen Victoria to
left.
