This pink Rhodonite specimen has a thick section of
Rhodonite throughout the matrix. What is stunning and surprising, though, is
the sharp willemite vein cutting across the rock in a bed of calcite! Comes with a Franklin Mineral Museum label.
UV Photos # 1, 3, 5, and 6 were taken in Shortwave UV. This rock also shows interesting colors in
Midwave UV (Photo #7) and Longwave UV (Photos # 8 and 9). The blue fluorescence seen in the UV Photos
is VERY MINOR and VERY faint, if seen at all.
According to the Franklin Mineral Museum, this rock was
collected/donated by John Heller, and the rock comes with a Franklin Mineral
Museum label. This rock weighs 10.2
ounces (291 g), and measures approximately 3.25 inches X 3.00 inches x 1.25
inches (8.1 cm x 7.4 cm x 3.0 cm).
(Note that there are some small spots of deep red on the
surface which can be scraped off with a pin and are not a mineral. I left them there for you because they will
glow bright red under a powerful Longwave UV flashlight, but they are easily
removed with a pin if you so desire. I
suspect this was some identification paint used by Mr. Heller.)
I have set the shipping as Ground Advantage Mail. If you plan on bidding on MORE than one rock,
let me know BEFORE you pay your invoice, so I may combine shipping to save you
money. I can often combine five or six
rocks in one box. If you pay first, I
must ship immediately and cannot offer combined shipping rates.
If you are the successful bidder, please leave positive
feedback. It is much
appreciated. If you have any questions,
please ask.
