Dimitrios Makulis, better known as Jimmy Makulis, was a prominent Greek singer born on April 12, 1935, in Athens. He gained fame in his native Greece before venturing into German-speaking markets in the mid-1950s. Makulis experienced notable success with several hits, including "Auf Cuba sind die Mädchen braun" and "Gitarren klingen leise durch die Nacht." In 1961, he represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Sehnsucht," which did not fare well but remained a memorable part of his career. After years abroad, including a stint in the United States, Makulis returned to Greece, continuing his musical career until his passing on October 28, 2007.
