*** please note: these are grown indoors only with grow light; more babies develop along the leaves, color is more vibrant & trunk is thicker when grown outdoor with natural sunlight
- purple plantlets/babies /pups that grow along the edges of the leaves
- some may already have a root or 2 but mostly rootless
Planting instructions:
- you can start by putting the plantlets on a tray with well draining or cactus soil, keep it moist (but not wet) by placing a plastic over the tray
- place on an area with indirect sunlight
- you can transfer the plant to a small pot, preferably 2x2, once it develops its own roots & at least 1” tall
- or… you can put the plantlet directly to a small pot & follow same instructions as above
- slowly acclimate to full sunlight once fully established & water only when dry
Plant descriptions:
Kalenchoe daigmontiana Mother of Thousands/millions alligator plant
- it grows a tall stems, elongated dull green with purple streaks
- lots purple, sometimes bluish, plantlets that grow along the edges of the leaves that will fall off, root & eventually become a new plant
- easy to care, can tolerate drought, water thoroughly then let the soil completely dry in between waterings
- part to full sunlight outdoors, bring indoors if you have cold winters (below 55 degrees) with bright window light or grow light
- aside from propagating from the plantlets, it can also be propagated from stem or leaf cuttings
