Staffa, Scotland 1974, Mini-sheet, "Winston Churchill". Sheet features the following stamps;
1/2p "18th Prince of Wales's Royal Hussars 1891", 2 1/2p "Kings Royal Rifle Corps 1895", 3p "Royal Marine Light Infantry 1895", 4p "Highland Light Infantry 1895", 5p "2nd Life Guards 1900", 10p "Irish Guards 1900", 15p "Seaforth Highlanders 1904" and 20p "Royal Marine Artillery 1914".
These were Cinderella Stamp Issues and had no Postal Value. Staffa Island has been uninhabited for about 200 years. Rumours were that these stamps could be bought on the Tourist boats that visited the island and that they could be posted at the Jetty (with the appropriate amount of UK postage also affixed!). I am not sure I believe those rumours although I have seen post cards with the Stamps of Staffa and UK postage affixed.
Numerous stamps of Staffa are available on Ebay and item is of interest to collectors. These will be the cheapest on Ebay. Only 49p.
Complete sheet of 8 stamps. The sheet has its original gum and has never been hinged. Item is in XF Condition.
