Navajo Sandstone Arch Sculpture Ornament Fossil Utah USA

This is a lovely example of a 100% natural Navajo sandstone arch sculpture from Utah, USA.

Navajo sandstone is one of the most extensive and most exposed aeolian (wind-blown) systems known in geology. The formation consists of thick layers of highly angled cross-bedded sandstone, which is predominantly composed of rounded quartz grains and were formed across mid-western America in a vast ancient desert of sand dunes similar to the modern Sahara Desert. This enormous sand sea was deposited in the Early Jurassic, approximately 190 million years ago.

This piece measures approximately 10 x 7 x 3.5cm (4 x 3.2 x 1.5") and weighs 327 grams. It has cork pads on the bottom to protect surfaces.

Makes a great collectors item or a gift for a loved one.
