He was born in Kyoto in 1926 as the eldest son of the Buddhist master Horin Matsuhisa.
From an early age he was enthusiastic about painting and learned the basics,
but when he got sick he gave up on painting.
Since then he has been a Buddhist priest.
After the WWII war, he engaged in carving as a good companion to his father.
In 1937, he established the "Kyoto Buddhist Sculpture Research Institute"
in Kujoyama, Kyoto, and established a solid foothold in the Buddhist sculpture society.
Since 1939, he has hosted the "Buddhist Art Exhibition" and has presented masterpieces
that show the essence of religious art.
In 1948 he co-authored "Recommendations for Buddha Sculpture" with his father.
In the same year, he founded the "Religious Arts Academy" and has been widely instructing younger generations.
He is a Buddhist priest at Shitennoji Temple and a Buddhist priest at Naritayama.
He died in March 1992.
