~50” inches length. Suitable for overhead and/or underhand slinging technique. It takes 37.8 metres of jute string to make one sling!

This is the same weapon the Balearic mercenaries used fighting for the Carthaginians and later the Romans.

It is handmade in the ancient manner, copying the design and material used in antiquity. I’ve visited Majorca to meet the islander’s descendants and see their designs. They still proudly compete in slinging tournaments on the island.

Simple and effective lightweight design, capable of both long-distance and accurate slinging with stones sized from grapes to plums to fit in the open pouch.

Best used with slightly course stones for best grip. Golf balls are good too provided you generate enough centrifugal force in the swing. Much prefer these to closed pouches as I find projectiles often get stuck in closed pouches. The ancient Balearic peoples knew it!

*UPDATE - currently not adding wax to the handle as it’s heat season!

Jute is tough yet flexible and will last at least ~500 throws before small wear and tear starts. The sling doesn’t take long to get ‘broken in’ and handles really well with capable hands!
