(NO KEY)
[Offered for your review & consideration is this exceptional, very unusually banded, early 20th century English antique tin toleware, handled metal cash box with particularly bold gold banding on the box's sidewalls. It's painted in black lacquer with thin red line & fluctuating gold bands. The cash box incredibly still has its secret, hidden interior fitted compartment with a collapsing, hinged wire handle. This interior, two-bay compartment was intended to hold coins, while any bills would be kept hidden underneath the interior pull-out compartment. This interior sleeve's painted in all black lacquer enamel & is nearly undisturbed, as is the paint on the exterior of the cash box, less some slight, very minor scuffs & a few minor abrasions along its outside edges. The box enjoys a fancy decorative hinged brass lifting/carrying handle found on its lid. The cash box is in very well-preserved condition, now being 120 to 125 years old. A great early mercantile artifact. Very handsome.]
