An original antique patented 1873 Kaleidoscope made by  Charles Gustavus. Bush (1825-1900) which measures approximately 10 1/2" long by 14" tall. Kaleidoscope has a black hardboard barrel with spoked brass wheel end piece which rotates a object cell filled with various lamp work glass including liquid filled ampules in a compartment  and thus forms various geometric scenes. The kaleidoscope has its original walnut turned wooden standard. Condition - lacks one of the small brass spokes at front and has some minor wear to covering as shown and there is a crack in the lightly frosted glass pane at the end which could be replaced (its a 3" in diameter disc) as the brass end can be taken off by loosening three screws. A classic adult victorian parlor amusement optical toy by this famous maker.
