Pocket Watch Elgin 1910 Size 12s 7 Jewel Sterling Silver Hunter Working

This is an old Elgin pocket watch in good condition with 'Elgin' printed on its dial. It is pendant wind and set with a machine engraved sterling silver hunter case. It measures 47.1mm in diameter (not including the pendant) and 12.6mm thick. The case is in excellent condition with some minor wear to the engine turning (as you would expect in a 110 year-old watch), and one or two minor hardly noticeable small shallow dents on the outer covers (see photos). The catch and hinge spring are present and function correctly to open and hold close the front cover. The hinges in the case are in good condition. There are no initials engraved on the inside or outside of the case. Both the inner and outer covers of the case have matching English Hallmarks for Stirling Silver, Birmingham, 1910 with the makers mark ‘A.L.D’ and “Dennison Watch Case Co”, and the serial number ‘58618C’. The makers mark ALD is the makers mark for Aaron Lufkin Dennison, or the Dennison Watch Case Company. The Dennison Watch Case Company was founded by Aaron Dennison in 1874. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition with no visible chips or hairline cracks (See photo). The watch also has a glass crystal in excellent condition with no chips or scratches (see photo). The movement has the following markings "Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, Safety Pinion, Seven Jewels" and the serial number 14,458,932. This serial number shows the movement was made in 1910, is a model 2, grade 310, class 113, size 12s with 7 jewels.

The watch works, and I have wound and run it for 24 hours on my desk, and it appeared to keep time to within a couple of minutes. The watch has not been cleaned or serviced and so is sold as is.

This is a vintage item and therefore has wear. It is offered as is without guarantee other than an honest description. I do offer a refund policy, if you are not entirely satisfied and contact me within 7 days of receiving the watch I am happy to refund the purchase price of the watch (but not the postage costs) when it has been returned. I will only refund postage costs if I have made an error in my description of the watch.

Please ask any questions before bidding and I will do my best to answer queries promptly.
