Gibson 1979 Kalamazoo Award Sunburst

Description

1979 Kalamazoo Award Sunburst

"Kalamazoo Award" is a model that is rarely seen on the market, along with "Citation" due to extremely low production numbers.
This is an extremely rare model that was produced for only four years, from 1978 to 1981, during the transition period from the Kalamazoo Factory to the newly established Nashville Factory.
The design by the craftsman "Wilbur Fuller" at the time involved repeated discussions and sound checks with skilled craftsmen, and the result is a finish that clearly stands out from other models of the same generation. You can feel the commitment of the craftsmen of the time everywhere, such as the voluminous arch shaping, the exquisitely carved top thickness, the resulting body balance, and the gorgeous inlay work on the head top and pickguard. .

When played live, you can hear a dry and rich sound with a sense of volume. The amp has a rich midrange and mellow overtones that create a thick core, and you can enjoy a satisfying sound that you won't hear with other models, with a rich touch nuance that gives you an acoustic feel. .

There are some minor scratches due to its age, but it is in good and clean condition, showing that it has been treated with care considering its age. There is some minor crack repair on the fingerboard near the nut, but it is very slight and not noticeable. The neck condition is good, the truss rod has plenty of room, and it has been re-nutted and refretted, so there is no wear and the playing surface is good. Added a neck heel strap pin, changed the jack from the original pin jack to a monaural jack for practicality, and replaced the bridge with a new ebony bridge. A general-purpose hard case is included.

This historically valuable Gibson archtop model also has a stunning quilted back.
