Here’s a pair of ultra rare collectibles: an autographed sumo card from Baseball Magazine BBM #68 of Terao Tsunefumi of Izutsu Beya AND a January 1990 issue of English language Tokyo Journal with a cover story about SUMO with Terao on the cover and photos of Konishiki, Chiyonofuji, and Akinoshima. Terao was a former Ozeki-candidate and a dynamic and technically adept fighter nicknamed the Iron Man of Sumo and the Eternal Typhoon for his skill at oshi-sumo, relying on pushing and thrusting techniques. Terao passed away December 17, 2023 at 60.  This card is from my personal collection and came directly from the sumotori when we lived in Japan in the 1990s. The Tokyo Journal magazine offers a long and informative feature -- The Joy of Sumo -- as well as other stories, columns and photos about Japan in 1990 with reviews, commentary, and fascinating classified ads from 1990. Advertising includes Northwest Airlines, I Feel Coke, and Eye-Ai. The card is in new condition; the magazine shows some minor signs of age but all pages are intact.
