Lovely Fireplace Screen with Gilt Brass in French Rococo or Louis XVI or other style (you can choose). Solid antique piece with great display pop! This is a very rare screen frame, it has lots of foundry stamps on the back attachment pieces that hold screen in place as shown in pictures but we are not sure of the exact maker. We looked at over 500 sales covering the last 30 years from our pay search sites and did not see one just like this. We found the cute cherub attachment plate on some some other screen frames (although the cherubs are a bit rarer than most as well), but none of this exact frame. We feel the screen looks better than many others and the top handle makes it easy to carry or to move about for cleaning. The fender in front in some pictures was made by Gantry Fils from France, but we do not think the screen was as it is not marked as such. The frame does not attract to a magnet and so is likely brass with gilt coating. The back mounting pieces do attract a magnet and may be iron or other. We think nearly everything on the frame is original, but perhaps one screw on the back leg mounts. One screw seems just a bit smaller than the rest. Of course someone could have replaced the screen at some point as well in its 100 plus year history. We only did a general clean up to take off a bit of tarnish and it brightened it up a bit. I'm guessing a little more cleaning would brighten it up even more, but it looks great as it is as seen in pictures. These fireplace screen in similar styles are now being offered from $1,000 to $3,000 or more on other sites. If you run a search you will see these on 1stdibs, Cherish, Etsy and others but we are offering ours for far less. For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. Signature confirmation will be required if your item is above $100 so please plan accordingly. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping.
