TheGibsonMurphyLab
A newly established facility within the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville.
We specialize in aging guitars using scientific verification and the latest technology.

Tom Murphy, a founding member of the Gibson Custom Shop and project leader during the development of the Historic Collection, uses his deep knowledge of vintage guitars to begin aging new guitars to give them a vintage look and feel.
As before, he has a deep understanding of vintage guitars and a high level of skill to perfectly reproduce the natural lacquer cracks and damage caused by playing on Gibson guitars.

In addition, Tom Murphy's aging process seems to be reflected not only in the looks but also in the tone of the guitar, and since he has created signatures for many legendary musicians, the sound is a little different from the regular models. It seems like there are many.

When you look at the actual 1958 Les Paul that has just arrived, you can see that Tom Murphy's knowledge and sense were put to use, combined with the latest technology to create an overwhelming sense of realism.
Its presence boasts a level of perfection that can be called a work of art rather than just an electric guitar.
1958LesPaul
Gibson introduced the current archtop Les Paul model in 1952.
Presented with a soap bar pickup and a trapeze tailpiece, it was a beautiful guitar that stood out from the flat-top solid guitars that Fender had released up until that point.

After that, in 1954, the trapeze tailpiece was replaced with a stop tailpiece, and in 1956, the T.O.M, which had previously only been installed on the top model Les Paul Custom, was installed.
Then, in 1957, Gibson developed the P.A.F humbucker pickup, which would have a major influence on the world of modern electric guitars, and established it as a pickup for Les Pauls.

The year after P.A.F was announced, a transparent sunburst color with heather grains was finally introduced.
1958 and 1960 were three precious years in which the original Burst Les Paul was produced, and if the actual Burst Les Paul was released on the market, it would be so rare that it would transcend the boundaries of electric guitars, and would become a true collector's item, the world over. It is becoming a legend, with even famous players keeping it at hand.

This model is the first year of such Burst, and it is a reissue of the 1958 Les Paul, the original of which is sold at a high price. The wood material is the same maple top, mahogany back, and rosewood fingerboard.
The pickup is equipped with two humbuckers.
The pickups are Custombucker Alnico3 mounted on both the front and rear.
This machine reproduces fine damage mainly using LightAged's weather cracks, but you can still experience the withering, depth, and vintage tone that is a little different from the beautiful gloss finish.

The main point of this unit is that the neck uses the popular 59 reissue neck named Authentic'59MediumC-Shape.
It is based on a realistic shape that was newly 3D scanned in 2019.
Coupled with the Murphy Lab's characteristic rolled binding and fret edge treatment, it has a truly vintage feel.

This individual is relatively lightweight 4.07.
This is probably the best weight for LesPaulStandard.
It doesn't have a light and dull impression, and has the tightness typical of Les Paul, but eliminates unnecessary boominess.
It's the perfect balance.

A special Gibson CustomShop MurphyLab limited to Japan with a 59 neck.
A must-see for plain top fans
