This is a scarce oyster tin can (gallon size) from Nelson P. Collins of Franklin City, Virginia. It was difficult to photograph this tin because the ceiling lights reflected off of the silver on the label. This tin is shown in the Karnitz's Oyster Can Guide Book on page 53. It has a packing number (VA. 25). There is no zip code, so it is pre-1963. The label says "Keep Iced" so the tin is most likely pre-1935 before refrigeration became a common household appliance. The lid looks like it is the original one, but I cannot say for sure. This is a hard-to-find tin. I have only seen a handful in the last 25 years. It does not come up often. Franklin City is on Virginia's eastern shore in Accomac County and not too far from Chincoteague, Virginia. I will be listing one or two tins per week with no reserve so please follow my auctions. I only ship to the lower 48 states. I never offer a Buy It Now price and I will never end an auction early so please do not ask. The buyer pays for shipping. I will use UPS and require a signature when delivered. Insurance is required for both of our protection, and I will split the cost of insurance with the winning bidder. Do not pay until you receive an invoice with the shipping and insurance added. Payment is expected within 3 days after receiving an invoice. I will accept a return and issue a refund but I must be contacted within 24 hours after it is delivered and only if I misrepresented or made an error in the listing. The buyer pays the return shipping cost and it must be returned in the same condition as it was received. Thank you for looking at my auction.
