An original Series II that has undergone an extensive restoration. This was one of my retirement projects and as such I can provide full in-depth description and photographs of the restoration.

 

I have retained / sourced many genuine early series 2 period correct parts such as screw type vents, Banjo steering wheel, Lucas windscreen wipers, original Smiths heater and demist vents, Lucas glass (not plastic) side and brake lights, deep side skirts, flat front valance panel, correct early instrument panel switches and warning lights, freewheeling hubs.

 

The Land Rover starts on the button and runs nicely following a full engine service and ignition system overhaul. The brakes, gearbox, transfer box, high and low ratio and 4 wheel drive all work correctly and the steering is as good as it gets for a series 2 without the vagueness and excessive wandering that many show!

Major restoration works - all with supporting photographs include:

·        New bulkhead (Robert Owen period correct) & floor panels.

·        Chassis restored to excellent condition having been replaced by a previous owner and now repainted and waxoiled.

·        New complete braided electrical loom (Autospark) woven colour coded.

·        New coil and HT leads.

·        New voltage regulator.

·        Engine strip - front and rear main bearing oil seals replaced, engine refinished in duck egg green, timing and valve clearance reset.

·        Rocker cover, distributor, fuel pump, water pump and sump gaskets renewed.

·        Original radiator repaired, tested and all coolant and heater hoses renewed.

·        New clutch plate and slave cylinder fitted.

·        New rear tub floor and floor crossmembers.

·        New door seals

·        Original rear folding bench seats retrimmed.

·        New Exmoor trim canvas tilt.

·        Brake system - complete overhaul with new shoes, slave & master cylinders.

·        All steering track-rod ends, and relay ball joints renewed.

·        Wheels refurbished and new tubed tyres fitted.
