Wild / Leica  Stereo microscope MZ3

This is a stereo microscope body with a 1x lens and two 16x focussable eyepieces suited for eye glass wearers. There is also a focusing block (fine and coarse drive) for a separate boom stand with a heavy base plate and a tube. This drive block would probably be fitted to the side boom arm and would move the microscope body horizontally, like in a surgical application. Note that no stand is provided, hence you would have to supply or build your own stand. As is, you cannot use the microscope directly. To mount the microscope on a vertical rod you would need an L-shaped metal part to connect the microscope body to the drive block. While each part is working properly, the entire set would be best described as ‘for parts or repair’.

This said, the microscope is working well, including the zoom (6x – 40x) and the eyepieces. Likewise, the drive box is firm and the coarse and fine drives are working smoothly. A screw that would lock the drive box on a boom stand is not supplied. The eyepieces are clean and clear, and the main zoom body has some dust that will not affect the image. The set comes with an original WILD plastic lid, but this does not seem to fit the zoom body. There is also a small disk with two holes that would fit the binocular head (WILD part # 411585), but that may or may not belong to this particular microscope. These two small parts can be seen in the first two pictures and the last one. The items in the set were spare parts from a Leica repair person.
