Opens and closes like it should , item shows use with scratches and scuff, etc., comes as seen, unit is appoximently 29" long closed, I removed the the two side knobs for shipping to shorten the width of the package and put nuts there, you can put the knobs back on after you unpack item, (sometimes on big items a inch can change shipping prices), comes as seen, see pictures.
