This fungus features an orange-brown cap that becomes viscous and sticky when wet, typically measuring 3 to 9 cm in diameter. The cap is adorned with pale yellow granules at its apex and lacks a ring structure. In its young stage, the cap exhibits milky droplets on its surface. The flesh of Suillus granulatus is also pale yellow in color.

Suillus granulatus is frequently mistaken for Suillus luteus, a species that is common and widely distributed. Unlike Suillus granulatus, Suillus luteus displays milky droplets on its pores. This distinction is also applicable to Suillus brevipes, characterized by a shorter stipe, which does not exude droplets from the pore surface.
