Edo Shippo was made by Hikoshiro the first of the Hirata family 
in the Shippo industry in the early Edo period.

After learning the Shippo cloisonné technique from Korea, 
he inherited the unique Shippo technique from his son, 
and worked as a servant worker for the Tokugawa Shogunate.
