Description

19th Century Sevres style biscuit porcelain peasant boy figure in smock clothing with phrygian cap (Santa hat), clogs and umbrella; impressed square mark with Interlaced L's enclosing date letter S for 1771 and PARIS; not sure of maker as I'm not an expert on Sevres porcelan and have never seen one before. could be Edmé Samson Paris.

Condition: three small spots of off-white overlay paint; one by the tree branch, second by top of umbrella's finial and third by his bow tie; unsure if touch-up restoration or just useage - otherwise it is perfect and complete with no chips/ cracks / hairlines.

Size: 22.5cm high and 8.8cm base diameter.
