FENDER Japan ST54-140 Extrad/2TS/M Used 1986 Ash Body Maple Neck w/Hard Case

Early days of Extrad that you don't often get to see! 1986 ST54-140 is now in stock!

Based on the E serial (1984-87), no Extrad decal on the back of the head, neck pocket engraving (STS-54), and neck date (12-11.86), we believe it was made in 1986, the first year of Extrad. Relatively lightweight 3.3kg!
It plays well, and although it is withered, it has a glossy and thick sound. It's a good atmosphere. I'm often asked how it compares to the original American-made product, but to be honest, I get the impression that it's a completely different product. The angular sound that is unique to Japanese products has become mellower over time, and it feels like it has added a sticky body and transparency. Moreover, the materials used were carefully selected materials from the time. I'm sure it will sound good. The neck is crisp tiger heather.
I think the people at Fujigen back in 1986 (probably young people in their 20s and 30s at the time) had the enthusiasm and desire to go beyond the original company. . . It's a very good guitar that makes you imagine that.

This instrument's pickup, pot, jack, and switch are not original.
All pickups have been replaced with Dimarzio DP110 (FS-1), and the inside of the cavity has been treated with conductive copper foil. The pot is a recent CTS (250kA), the jack is a Switchcraft, and the switch is a recent CRL5way.
The body has burnt paint at the bottom of the bridge, small scratches and dullness of the paint throughout. On the back of the neck, there are areas where the top coat has thinned or peeled off (there are no dents or cracks that could get caught in the hand), and there is some peeling of the paint on the fingerboard between the 1st and 2nd frets. The neck shape is a loose V.
The neck is almost straight with 8.50% of the frets remaining. The rod still has room in both directions.
Although not original, it comes with a tweed hard case.
