Emilie Sweetser (Chamberlin) Conklin (ca. 1887-1968) was an American poet of deep personal faith. Her poetry is well crafted, in a style still very readable in the early 21st century. The strong theme in this collection is that life is often challenging, but that God’s constant care is a sufficient resource for strength and hope; very uplifting.

She spent most of her life in Pennsylvania. Her parents were Moses Jackson Chamberlin (1841-1903) and Sarah Elizabeth (Williams) Chamberlin (1848-1927). Her longtime husband was Oscar Bruce Conklin (1889-1951); she later married Stanley S. Warner (d. 1968). This seller has not been able to discover whether or not she had children.

The book condition is “very good”: boards and spine are straight and square; binding is solid, with everything intact; no marks in or out, other than the gift inscription; very slight external wear.
