ROYAL DOULTON CAKE PLATE

ITEM:  Royal Doulton cake plate. Made in England by Doulton in the popular "Nasturtium" pattern. 

DESCRIPTION: This plate is rectangular in shape with a slightly scalloped rim. The rim has gilt trim.The main decoration is distinctive nasturtium flowers and foliage. 

Note that the photos provided form part of the description. Any shiny spots or white marks are from the camera shots, not blemishes on the item. 

MATERIAL: Earthenware.

COLOURING: On a cream ground. Other colours are gold, green, yellow, mauve and dark red. 

MEASUREMENTS: Length of the plate is 23.5cms and the width 18.5cms. It is 2cms deep. 

CONDITION: No chips, cracks, or restoration. There is age related glaze crazing and some yellowing of the glaze, pretty common in older ceramic items. Also some very mild rubbing to the gilt trim in a couple of places. In good vintage condition in my opinion.

MARKINGS: The bottom of the plate has the Royal Doulton lion and crown back stamp, and the pattern registration number, "D6091" and the pattern name, "Nasturtium". Also, an impressed date which I think is "11.39", manufactured November 1939.

AGE:  See above. 84 years old.

GENERAL COMMENTS: Lovely collectable from a by-gone era. This pattern is very collectable. A treasure for your collection.
