This is a Vintage Pair of Ceramic Siamese Cat (Chocolate or Seal Point) Bookends (made in Japan).  The listing when I purchased them years ago said they were made in the 1950's to 1960's time period (mid century).  On the bottom of each is stamped "FILL WITH SAND TO SUPPORT HEAVIER BOOKS JAPAN" (both have their original stoppers).  They have lovely blue eyes.  They are approximately 7" tall x 4" wide x 2.75" deep.  The glaze is more matte than glossy but there are a few spots of glossy finish primarily on one cat bookend (tried to show this in photos 10 and 11); I think probably a factory flaw? but not sure.  Condition wise:  standard vintage wear; I feel they are in very nice condition for their age.  I do not see or feel any chips or cracks in the ceramic; however, there is a bit of age-related crazing; there are some flea bite size paint loss (for example each cat has an ear that is missing a bit of paint -- photos 8 & 9; and very minimal loss on face); there is a pin prick dot/indention in the glaze of one of the cat's eyes but this would be a manufacturing flaw (photo 7, right side eye); possibly some dirt/dust; light scratches/marks especially on bottom, and they probably could use a gentle cleaning (please see photos for detail).  This is from my own personal collection of cat figurines; it has been displayed in a curio cabinet from the day I got them (I never actually used them for bookends).  These would be 'purr'-fect for any Siamese Cat lover or just a cat person in general.  

I have not cleaned any of the vintage items that I will be listing; I will leave that up to the Buyer, as I would not want to damage anything due to lack of experience/knowledge.  Unless otherwise noted, these vintage pieces have all belonged to people that I personally knew i.e. my friend's mother; my own mother or my grandmothers.

SHIPPING:  

- At this time, I ship within Canada; as of November 2018, I am now shipping to the United States and the United Kingdom (as of January 2019) on some items.
- When a package is indicated as Delivered in the tracking number history, eBay does not ask Sellers to reimburse Buyers for claims of non-receipt.  Sellers have no control over mailbox thieves or the postal service making an error by mis-delivering a package.  Therefore, I ask you not to hold the Seller responsible for these rare incidents.  Thank you for your understanding on these issues.
- I ship within 3 business days of receiving payment.
- I will combine shipping where possible.  If you buy more than one item and wish to have combined shipping, please do not pay until you receive the combined shipping invoice.

For Canada:
- I will ship via Canada Post Regular Parcel (which automatically includes tracking).  If the actual total shipping cost to mail your parcel is less than the Buyer's paid shipping cost, I will refund any difference over 1.00.
- Please note that even though Canada Post gives a shipping time of 2-10 business days for Regular Parcel, on occasion the parcel may take a little longer depending on where you live in Canada.

For United States:
- I will ship via Canada Post Tracked Packet - USA - Air.  
- Please note that even though Canada Post gives a shipping time of approximately 7 business days for this service, on occasion the parcel may take a little longer depending on where you live in the USA.
- If the actual total shipping cost to mail your parcel is less than the Buyer's paid shipping cost, I will refund any difference over 1.00.
- Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.  These charges are the Buyer's responsibility.  Please check with your country's Customs Office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
- Orders may require a Customs form to be filled in; this will be done openly and honestly by the Seller, in order to allow fast and smooth transfer of goods through International borders.  

PACKING/DAMAGE:

- Please be assured that I will package your item carefully, so that it arrives safely and undamaged.
- However, if the item arrives damaged, please take a photo of any damage to the box/package before the box is opened and then take photos of the contents.  Thank you.
- These items will be wrapped in bubble wrap and mailed in a box to fit.

RETURNS-EXCHANGES-CANCELLATIONS:

- I do not accept exchanges.
- I gladly accept Domestic returns within Canada only (based on the below time period only):

  Ship items back within:              30 days of delivery (Buyer pays return shipping).

- I gladly accept Cancellations (both within Canada, the U.S.A. and United Kingdom) based on the below time period only:

  Request a cancellation within:   12 hours of auction win or Buy it Now purchase.

- If I have made a mistake and have inadvertently misrepresented any of my auctions/fixed listings, I will reimburse the cost of the item plus all shipping costs (as well as the return shipping).

CONDITIONS OF RETURN (within Canada):

- Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs.  If the item is not returned in its original condition, the Buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
- If an item is insured, regardless of fault, the Buyer shall co-operate with Seller in every aspect in the submission to the Insurer of a claim for coverage or reimbursement (for example, taking photos of a damaged package/item, etc.).

PAYMENT:
 
- Winning bidders must pay within 3 days of AUCTION's end.
