The period sounds of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment offer just the right amount of support and Autumnal colour, and the treble soloist in the Pie Jesu, Tom Pickard, is so good I feel guilty already for not playing it to you. Not necessarily a revelatory account of the first liturgical edition of the Fauré, but more than just a curiosity, and a richly rewarding performance and recording.
