The Super 400 first appeared in 1934.
At that time, electric guitars were not yet popular, and there was a demand for high-volume live guitars, so many companies began selling larger-sized guitars.
Gibson also started selling the 18-inch body Super400 as a model that goes beyond the top-of-the-line model L-5 to compete with rival companies.
Since then, several variation models have appeared, and even today, it remains the top model and is admired by many guitarists.
Production of the acoustic style Super400C ended in 1982, just before the company moved from Kalamazoo.

This device has a peeling label inside the body, and we believe it was manufactured in 1950 based on the factory order number.

18 inches, carved spruce top, maple sides and back,
It has a long scale ebony fingerboard with a 3-piece maple neck sandwiched between thin walnut plates.

In addition, it has decorations unique to the top model, including multi-layer binding, split diamond inlay, and Seal Fast pegs. The peg knobs are made of metal and may be replaced.

Although there is a possibility that the painted surface may have been overlacquered or refinished, it is in very good condition.

The pickguard and bridge have been replaced.
There is a crack in the neck heel.
