1937 Blessing Super Artist cornet.

This is a fine instrument, of the model that was used by Muggsy Spanier.   It's been recently serviced by McQueens, and is in excellent condition,   All slides pull, valves are smooth, compression is good.   There's a dent on the bell crook, (which, in my photos, looks worse than it is); and the plating is worn in places, (but still about 90% good).   The interior of the bell is gold-washed.   As well as being a rarity and a collector's piece, it's all fit and ready to blow.   It has a lovely, clear, mellow, tone, projects well when needed, but is gentle and velvety when played quietly.   It's comfortable to hold and easy to play.   (Of all my instruments, this one is my wife's favourite),

There is a Blessing 13 mouthpiece in the box.   (This is not the mouthpiece that I've used.)   The plating on the mouthpiece is worn, but there's no real damage.   It completes the set.

The case has seen better days, but, despite being shabby, it's still solid and protective.   Both the catches work well, the springs are good but there's no keys.   I don't know if it's the original E K Blessing case.   The whole outfit came from New Orleans, so it might have seen a bit of bad weather during its 86 years.

I'm just a year younger than this cornet, terminally ill, and no longer in need all of the instruments, mouthpieces and accessories that I've amassed over the years, so, one by one, and sadly, I'm offering them for sale, hoping that they'll find good homes where they'll be valued and enjoyed.

I've previously advertised this instrument, and, although there was plenty of interest in it, nobody made a sensible offer.   I've reduced the price and will pay postage within the UK.
